Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge is a series of studies based on its namesake. The sanctuary is situated near Lawton, Oklahoma, and provides a home for several species including black-tailed prairie dogs and white-tailed deer, and has played a hand in the rehabilitation of formerly endangered species such as American bison and Texas longhorns. Some of said species and their relationship to the land, to each other, and to us are the subjects of these paintings.
